Prepping the Metro 6/1
So far I've determined that most fittings on the fuel pump and injector are metric, but there are a few that seem to be neither metric nor Whitworth.
The nuts for the engine head bolts are Whitworth 5/8 or British Standard 11/16. This size is equivalent to 27.94 mm AF (Across Flats).
The nuts for flanges and crankcase doors are Whitworth.
New gaskets were cut from Rubber-Cellulose stock (AutoZone) for the crankcase door and the water intake (lower) flange. They were treated with RTV Silicone before being installed.
The water tank has a new cool water return line cut into the side of the 30 gal drum about 6" from the bottom. A valave will be put on this line to act as a manual thermostat.
All pipe fittings/bushings were installed in the drum sides and sealed with DAP 100% Silicone Rubber Sealant.
